Tribute to the archaeologist Marija Gimbutas, 100 years of future prior

A seminar day dedicated to the archaeologist Marija Gimbutas on the centenary of her birth, entitled Marija Gimbutas. 100 Years of Future Front.

The event conceived by Eleonora Paniconi and Valeria Felsi in collaboration with the Youth Cultural Association Il Cielo Sopra Berlino and in partnership with the ISAF Preziotti Alumni Association of Fermo, was sponsored by the Marche Region and the Municipality of Fermo with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Fermo.

The interventions, all dedicated to Marija Gimbutas and her exceptional discoveries, were recorded in the two videos that we offer as part of the Prehistory in Italy videography.

The interventions:

  • Luciana Percovich, writer and essayist, editor of the Civette/I Saggi series for Venexia editrice, with a conference entitled:
    The Earth cannot be deceived, the vision of Marija Gimbutas from the first human cultural roots to a glimpse into the future.
  • Pasquale Miranda, archaeologist and researcher at the Federico II University of Naples with a conference entitled:
    Marija Gimbutas and the role of archeology in the definition of the ancient female world in the Villanovan and Piceno examples.
  • Carmen Esposito, archaeologist and researcher at Queen's University Belfast:
    Appearance of the feminine in the light of scientific analyses.
